Diagnostic Centre
Access to timely and quality medical diagnosis has long been a major gap in healthcare delivery for residents of Imota and neighbouring communities. For years, many people had to travel outside the area - often to Ikorodu or even further - to access advanced diagnostic services such as imaging, sonography, laboratory tests and specialist medical assessments. This not only increased the cost and delay of care but also put unnecessary strain on families and local health facilities.
To address this critical need, Rep. Babajimi A. Benson facilitated the development of the state-of-the-art Imota Diagnostic Centre, anchored within the expanding Imota General Hospital complex. The foundation for this modern facility was laid in March 2025, with community leaders, stakeholders and traditional authorities in attendance.
Once completed, the Diagnostic Centre will house advanced medical units including a doctor’s cabin, sonography and ultrasound rooms, MRI scan facilities, pathology and microbiology labs, a chemical laboratory, report collection and observation areas, and patient waiting spaces - all designed to deliver comprehensive diagnostic services under one roof.
This intervention will significantly reduce the burden on neighbouring hospitals, shorten travel time for patients, improve early disease detection and treatment, and enhance overall healthcare outcomes across Imota and its environs. By expanding local diagnostic capacity, Rep. Benson’s initiative marks a major step toward accessible, efficient, and quality healthcare for the people of Ikorodu Division
