The House Resolved to:
Mandate the Committees on Maritime Safety Education and Administration, and Education to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported cancellation of the Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Warri South LGA, Delta State; and report back to the House within two (2) weeks for further legislative action.
ii.) A Call for Rehabilitation of Nsit Ibom- Etinan Express Road (Akwa Ibom State) (Hon. Samuel Ikon)
The House Resolved to:
a) Call on the Federal Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to carry out an immediate/ temporary rehabilitation of Ikot Ekang Bridge to enable fluidity of movement amongst the connecting communities;
b) Also call on Federal Government through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for a proper rehabilitation of the express Road:
c) Ensure that the relevant cost of construction of bridge/ road is captured in the 2016 appropriation Bill: and
d) Observe a minute silence in honour of the dead
iv.) Call for Rehabilitation of Rumukwurshi/Igboh Etche/Chokoche/Uzuzu Road: Hon. Jerome Amadi Eke:
The House Resolved to:
Mandate the Committees on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and the Niger Delta Ministry to liaise with the Commission/Ministry with a view to taking over the rehabilitation of the road in view of its economic importance to the people of River State.
v.) Call for Reconstruction of Nsukka-Adani-Onitsha Federal Road ( Hon. Stella Ngwu)
The House resolved to:
a) Mandate the Committees on Works, Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and Appropriation to ensure that money for the reconstruction and/or rehabilitation of the road is captured in the 2016 Budget; and
b) Mandate the Committee on Legislative Compliance to ensure compliance.
vi.) Urgent Need for Construction of a Dual Carriageway along Aba Ikot Ekpene-Calabar Road ( Hon. Emmanuel S. Akpan)
The House Resolved to:
a) Mandate the Committee on Work to include the dualization of the road in the 2016 Budget in order to ameliorate the sufferings of the people and enhance the economies of the States; and
b) Mandate the Committee on Legislative Compliance to ensure compliance.
vii.) Urgent Need for the Completion of the Okeagbe 2×60 MVA, 132/33Kv Substation with 2x132Kv Line Bays Extension at Obajana (Hon. Stephen Friday Olemija)
The House Resolved to:
a) Urge the Federal Ministry of Works, Power and Housing to direct the Contractor (Power Company and Appliance Limited) to return to site and complete the project in accordance with the terms of the contract;
b) Mandate the Committees on Power, and Appropriations to include money for the completion of the project in the 2016 Appropriations proposal.
viii.) Need to Ensure the Completion for the contract for the Dredging of Calabar Port Channel (Hon. Daniel Effiong Asuquo)
The House Resolved to:
Mandate the Committee on Ports, Habours and Waterways to investigate the processes that led to the award of the dredging Contract to a company that does not seem to have the competence and equipment to properly execute the contract, and also evaluate the work so far done by the contractor weeks for further legislative action.
ix.) Call for Caution in the Implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)Between the European Union (EU)and Nigeria (Hon. Segun Adekola)
The House resolved to:
a) Urge the Federal Government to exercise caution in the implementation of the economic partnership agreement (EPA) with the European Union (EU) until Nigeria has adequately industrialized to be able to trade competitively in finished products: and
b) Mandate the Committees on Commerce Industry, and Cooperation and Integration in Africa to ascertain the true nature of the agreement and report back to the House within four (4) weeks.
x.) Call for the establishment of a Pacifist Nigerian Civil War Memorial in Gakem, Cross River (Hon. Ochiglegor Idagbo)
The House resolved to:
Urge the Federal Government to establish a Pacifist War Memorial in Gakem, Cross River state
xi.) Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) scholarship student idle at home (Hon. Fred Agbedi)
The House resolved to:
a) Direct the Committee on Marine Safety, Education and Administration to investigate the reasons and causes of the delay in placing the students on Industrial Training programme, difficulty of NIMASA in discharging its bursary obligations to the institutions; and
b) Report its findings and recommendations to the House within two weeks
xii.) Urgent need to pay the six area councils of Federal Capital Territory, Three months salaries to avoid strike and negative impact (Hon. Abubakar Yunusa Ahmad)
The House resolved to:
Urge the Minister of Federal Capital Territory to consider and pay the salaries of the staff in order to avert the impending strike action.
xiii.) Call for completion of the rehabilitation/ expansion work and provision of pedestrian bridges on the Lagos /Ibadan / Sagamu/ Benin expressways (Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu and Hon. Mukaila Kazeem)
